Weekly Meeting:
8pm GMT every Saturday
(3pm EST - USA)
IRC Server:
FEFnet - irc.fef.net
Port:
6667
Channel Name:
#chronicpain
On our sister site - ostomysupport.info,
the two most popular features of it have always been the message board,
and the IRC chat Room. If you find message boards fun, then youll love
being in a chat room as its immediate messaging is far more enthralling
than waiting for message board replies. Therefore we just have to have a chat room for the Chronic Pain Support site too. :)
The chronic pain chat room is accessible 24/7, however as this is a new
chat room
there will be a lot of time when it is empty. Therefore a weekly
meeting is arranged at a time when hopefully most people can come by
and have a chat and share each others thoughts and opinions on all
matters. This meeting will also be advertised on other pain websites
and health sites to try and pick up some chat-user numbers.
The meeting is every saturday at 8PM UK time (either GMT or GMT+1
depending on Daylight Saving) which equates to approx 3pm in the USA
EST zone.
How can I access the chat room?
There are two ways you can access the room.
1. The easiest way is with the websites own built in Java chat applet.
No additional software should be required for most people to use it,
and we offer a variety of window sizes for your chatting comfort. :)
All you need do with the java chat applet is click the link to open it,
insert your chosen nickname and click on connect. You'll be taken
straight to the chat room. To chat to others, just click your mouse in
the input bar at the bottom of the chat window, type your message, and
hit the enter/return key on your keyboard to send it.
Please note:
All channel activity is logged 24/7 for safety.
Private conversations are never logged.
By entering the chat room you
acknowledge and accept these notices.
2. With your own IRC software which you may have installed on your PC -
such as mIRC or X-chat. As an extra service I have available a
pre-configured version of mIRC which I have set up in advance for you.
All you have to do is download it, extract the folder to your desktop,
open it, click on the mIRC icon, then once loaded enter your nickname
where it asks you too, and click on Connect. Youll then be taken
straight to the chat room. Its as easy as that. Download the
Chronic-Pain-mIRC script here. (1.2mb)
Please help us to make the chat room's numbers grow. Spread the word
about it to other pain-friends or family members. Also, if you would
like to idle in the chat room while you surf th enet or email others
then that is fine. That way at least youll known when someone comes and
can talk to them.
If you have any ideas for the chat room, or would like to see different
meeting times made available please do get in touch with me or post a
message on the message board about it.
PleaseNote:
Things will be quiet in the first few months of the room, it was the
same with the ostomy one, but now it's a thriving community all of its
own. And of course visitors to this site are welcome to go and talk in
that chat room too if you would like to where the same java and mIRC
options are available. Take me to the #ostomyland chat room.
